Our Island’s families, businesses and nonprofit organizations are hurting. The COVID 19 pandemic will have lasting effects on our community for decades to come. Significant budget cuts, significantly limited Thrift Shop hours, reduced staff, and countless other challenges mean that our community must rally together. It’s time to Rise Up! for MIYFS. Mercer Island Youth and Family Services is our island’s sole, full-service social and human services provider. The MIYFS safety net assists those experiencing a crisis, as well as cultivates strength and resilience in our community. Only through the help of MIYFS’ largest fundraiser of the year can we ensure we have the resources we need to keep up with the rising demand for services.

Q: Do I have to register to watch the online event?
Registering allows you to receive updates about the event, and stay informed about any changes. No donation is required for event registration. Technically you don’t have to register to watch the event, but it’s highly recommended! Register now!

Q: What do I wear to this breakfast event?
PAJAMAS! It’s an unprecedented time, and in unprecedented times, it’s important to be comfortable. Nobody will see you –
your video camera/audio will not be enabled.

Q: How do I access the event?
Join us online. A “View Program” link will be posted on the MIFYS breakfast website, breakfast.miyfs.org, a few days before the event. It’s as simple as that. Click on the “View Program” link on the morning of the event and share the morning celebrating and supporting your friends and neighbors.

Q: I really miss seeing my friends and neighbors. How can I connect with my community before/during the virtual breakfast event?
We want to see you — even if we can’t meet in-person! Send photos NOW of you and your friends/neighbors/table guests that will be attending the 2021 MIYFS Rise Up! Virtual Fundraising Breakfast event – and we’ll feature them here on the MIYFS website and through our social media channels! #riseupmiyfs

Q: What is the minimum suggested donation for the RiseUp! Virtual Fundraising Breakfast?
Each guest is encouraged to donate a minimum suggested $250/person to MIYFS Foundation. However, please give at the level that feels right to you. Significant city budget cuts, significantly limited Thrift Store hours, reduced staff and countless other challenges mean that our community must rally together for Mercer Island Youth and Family Services.

Q: Is this a family-friendly program? Can anyone watch?
Yes! This is your chance. ANYONE AND EVERYONE should tune in. It’s a chance to learn about MIYFS, what’s happening on our island, and support with sorely needed funds if you’re moved to do so.

Q: How can my business sponsor this event?
All inquiries may be emailed directly to Cynthia Daste, MIYFS Executive  Director cdaste@miyfsfoundation.org.

Q: Who is planning the 2021 MIYFS Rise Up! Virtual
Fundraising Breakfast?
Some stellar community volunteers! Julia Hokanson, Co-Chair, Becky McKanna, Co-Chair, Erin Azose, Monica Burnside, Paulette Denman, Beth Flume, Kristen French, Pam Hinnen, Jody Kris, Robin Li, Robin Moore, Holly Moraca, Sonal Nyati, Michelle Peyree & Jim Schwab.

Q: Can I submit my donation early?
Absolutely, in addition to registering for the event, you can donate online at www.miyfs.org/donate

Q: This is great, but I still have more questions!

Demesha Young at dyoung@miyfsfoundation.org.
